Maybe it was a good thing Scarlett had been completely unconscious and didn't wake up on the way to the hospital wing, because he had used the Wingardium Leviosa spell to get her there; doing so without magic would have taken too long and been nearly impossible considering the stairs and the fact that thin as she may be, she probably still weighed more than he did with his less than impressive height. Once she had been dropped ungracefully onto a bed Madam Pomfrey had pushed him out, shut the door in his face and got to work. But all that had happened yesterday; it was now the next morning. As far as Shendeth knew, the other Slytherin was still where he had left her, but he had no idea if she was really okay or not.
Which brought him back here now. Why? Good question. He had told her it would be a good thing if she died, hated her and the way she talked to him, watched her suffer cruelly for as long as possible. Everything said Shendeth shouldn't care, or if he went to visit it would be only to laugh at her. He would never admit otherwise even if that was the case. But something drew him up here while everyone else was in the Great Hall. He couldn't not. Maybe it was because he had brought her there, or it would be his fault if she wasn't okay. He didn't want that to happen. Or maybe it was perfectly normal to have meant what he said and still have interest.
Shendeth pushed open the door to the long, sunlit room. Thankfully the nurse was not there to stop or question him; he approached the fifth year girl hesitantly.

Her nail polish was chipping badly, it didn't bother her though, she would be out of here soon even if she had to sneak out. Her fingers were clutching the puzzle box tightly as she twisted and turned it this way and that to try and solve the mystery and align the pictures correctly to unlock the box. It was not something she would choose to do, but she had found it under her bed as she had sat in silence, waiting for something to happen. The puzzle box had provided an outlet for her frustrations at being cooped up in the stark, white room.
She heard the door open and looked round, an eyebrow raising in surprise as she took in the boy approaching. Well, well, she hadn't expected to see him here. She had expected to see anyone here, but Shendeth was the last person she imagined would come to visit her. She twisted slightly to look at him better as he approached the bed and winced in pain, remembering too late the injuries she had sustained in the fight.
She licked her lips, almost nervously (though she would never admit it), missing her ruby red lipstick and bold, eccentric makeup which helped to define her. She felt slightly lost without it. "Mr Potter, I wasn't expecting to see you in here, crying by my sickbed this morning." The words were said in a teasing voice and were accompanied by an amused grin.

Ah. That meant she would be fine, or at least back to normal eventually. The two didn't seem to be the same. She was probably still hurt now though he didn't care about that. But he didn't care about anything, of course. He tried to look disappointed instead of relieved. It wasn't all too hard; if she had been asleep he would have been able to just leave before that changed, but now he was stuck talking to her, which was supposed to be a bad thing. Scarlett was clearly just as annoying when she was taken by surprise as when she was angry. If only she had just lost her voice.
Shendeth scowled back at her indignantly. "I was just seeing if you were dead yet." Clearly she wasn't. Pity.

Scarlett grinned up at him, examining his features, trying to recognize the hatred in them. He looked disappointed at the fact that she could speak and move, sure, but he didn't look quite as angry as normal. This made her smirk slightly, happy that he wasn't being quite as horrible as normal. She wasn't sure why this pleased her. However his words made her laugh out loud, a ringing sound that echoed around the empty ward and made her thankful that the Healer had gone to talk to Snape about some potions she needed. "So..." She drawled with a smirk, remembering something she had asked him last time they had spoken. "You do get off on this don't you? Does it really turn you on?" She didn't end it with a laugh, merely a slightly curious and slightly amused stare, her dark eyes sparkling.

It took a slight delay for the meaning of the question to be figured out; for a quick second his features slipped into a blank stare of confusion before he corrected it, pretending to know what she was even talking about. As it slowly dawned on him that it had to do with that stuff other people talked about all the time and must have actually felt, but he never did, confusion quickly turned to disgust. Shendeth narrowed his eyes, instinctively using anger to cover up because not understanding that was for some reason associated with naivety and innocence, neither of which he possessed much of.
It wasn't that he was too young, but all talk of sex and love and feelings associated with those things went straight over his head. Maybe there was something missing from him, but it was just alien. So in light of the question being asked he almost forgot to be mean. Why the hell would she even ask that, that was wrong, wasn't it? He didn't get "turned on" or whatever, and certainly not by this. It was quite the opposite actually, Shendeth really didn't like the sight of blood or being stuck around sick people. He was never attracted to anyone at all. Right? He looked at Scarlett, half weirdly and half defensively.
"What? No! Of course not. I'm not that messed-up." As far as he knew that wasn't normal for normal people either. Sadists belonged in prisons and mental hospitals.

Scarlett found it odd that the flash in his features seemed to indicate confusion. She had never met a boy who didn't understand the basics of being turned on, or getting off on something. She tried to push it to one side, but there was something in the tone of his reply that made her wonder what he really was. The idea of sex seemed to unnerve him and even creep him out a bit. Or maybe it was more to do with his nervousness about his sexuality or sexual preferences. She shifted slightly, tossing her head and sending her long hair tumbling in all directions, hating how plain and dull she must look. "You're gay aren't you? You can tell me, I am bi, I don't care." It seemed the most likely option, he could be nervous about coming out and trying to admit it to friends and family, though most of Slytherin was accepting of all sexuality's.

Maybe it was an overreaction, but he liked that question even less. Much less. The simply curious and non-accusing tone in which she asked it made it even weirder, but he was glad he hadn't managed to get her angry yet. He wasn't enjoying this conversation though; his features hardened at the question. It wasn't that he had anything against gay people either, he paid no mind to what she said about herself. Since he wasn't it did seem a little strange, but to each their own.
Shendeth just didn't like being mistaken for one. Not that it happened often; while his hair got him mistaken for a girl all the time being androgynous was very different from your stereotypical feminine guy. If he knew one thing for sure it was that Scarlett definitely was wrong. Why was 'neither' so unheard of that it wasn't an option? He wasn't going to make it one and tell her that though, for one why would he confess that to her of all people, for two there was no way to be sure of anything yet, for three.. he didn't want her to know or get the wrong idea.
"No. I'm not gay. Not at all." he said forcefully. Just making it clear.

Scarlett leaned back slightly, as though flinching away, though the movement was to precise and obvious for that. The severity of his words struck her and she wasn't sure she liked it. Though there was no malice behind the words, the determination shocked her slightly and she wasn't sure how to react in a nice way to it. She tilted her head to the side, an arrogant smirk coming to her face, which she managed to pull off despite the lack of her confidence boosting make up. "I don't doubt it, sweetheart." Her voice was challenging and mocking, clearly indicating that she either didn't believe him or just enjoyed winding him up. "But that's a big claim for a guy who won't say anything about himself...Prove it!" Her eyebrows rose as she taunted him, grinning at him like a cat who had got cream. She tilted her head and her body relaxed slightly, she was convinced she had won this argument, because it didn't matter to her if he was or not, she needed to win this argument.

There it was again, her usual teasing manner that he had noticed when they first met. He didn't know if he liked her better this way or not; it was a good thing he wasn't actually that angry, because no matter how she acted she never failed to be annoying. At the same time he could have smiled, had she not said precisely what she did. Maybe he'd sounded more like he was in stubborn denial than simply sure of the truth of his words. Sweetheart, that was a new one. Adding to the teasing, but she could have taken the chance to throw in some foul insult instead. Shendeth raised an eyebrow at her.
"I.." For a moment there he thought she might win after all. How the hell did you prove you weren't something? A lack of evidence was not evidence in itself.
But there had to be something to say back, he didn't let people win that easily, and would take it as humiliation if she walked off not believing him and told anyone else what she thought. It was playing right along to try to fight, but.. but so what? He would have to prove the opposite then. Which he couldn't.. but was that really true? Maybe he just needed to meet his match, someone just as cunning, strange, dark, strong and proud as he was. Someone he didn't have to pretend to or worrying about hurting, because she was already broken. Shendeth couldn't look to the past for help, but right now was something different entirely.
He looked down at Scarlett, seeing her to be just as beautiful as always. It didn't matter if she was crippled and lacking her signature elaborate makeup. Nothing seemed to matter except that now was the right time, to break labels and stop denying that she was different. He didn't feel what other people felt but that didn't mean he could never feel at all. There was a good chance she would kill him for it, and he didn't even know what he was doing or how to do it, but he forgot that. For once Shendeth acted on impulse without thinking. In one swift movement he had gone around the side of the bed, leaned in and kissed her.

Scarlett was confident, cocky, arrogant and, as she as she was concerned, the winner of this little argument. In her eyes there was nothing he could do to combat her words. But her words had been spoken on impulse, with no thought or reasoning behind them. She had abandoned her Slytherin ways and was relying on an emotional attachment to the arguments that the two managed to create. However the second he started to move towards her, she knew that this was not the end. It took her a moment to realise what he was going to do and another moment to register it. By that point he was very close to her and her thoughts were shooting through her head like lightening, so fast that she couldn't process them or even think about them. Like Shendeth she acted on impulse, followed her instincts and kissed him back. One hand pressed against his cheek, the other loosely gripped his hair and pulled him closer, the deep down attraction she had felt to him which had fueled her anger at him was released as she kissed him back.

A detached part of his mind was dimly able to register surprise that this was actually happening; it almost didn't seem real, but at the same time, it was very much the only thing that was real. While normally he did not like to be touched and it wasn't quite what people made it out to be, it wasn't so bad at all. If there was a voice in his head telling him otherwise or that this was wrong he definitely didn't hear or believe it. Time seemed to slow, their surroundings put on hold so it was just the two of them.
And he was neither dead nor being slapped in the face; until now he hadn't realized that she would want to, but she was kissing him back. Shendeth felt her hands on his face and in his hair and allowed her to pull him closer, very close. He was sitting on the edge of the bed now, a hand at her back, their bodies almost touching. Encouraged by her reaction, he abandoned any remaining hesitation to continue following whatever speck of instinct lay buried, turning his own rage and confusion into passion to kiss her with.

Scarlett had kissed a few people before...well more than a few. She didn't hold her sex drive back in any way and had flirted with more people than she could count.
But Shendeth was something different, every time they saw each other they exchanged glares and sharp, painful words. He had almost let her die just to show her how much he hated her. But somehow that had backfired, he couldn't, wouldn't... Whatever, he didn't leave her to die. And now he was sitting on her bed just one day after the fight, kissing her with a passion she had only ever felt when they had fought. Both of them were channeling something deep, something they didn't understand.
She had no reason to stop this, she was putting everything she had into kissing him, desperately seeking more from the boy she had insulted not that long ago. But something made her pause and pull away slightly and look up at him, her dark brown eyes meeting his for a moment as she searched them, not sure what she was looking for. A small, dangerous grin crossed her features and she pulled him closer again, her hands tightening on his hair as she kissed him.

Shendeth let her pull away slightly and looked back at her. For a moment his dark green eyes stared into her unreadable dark brown ones. He had no idea what Scarlett was thinking, but then she was kissing him again. Maybe she could sense something was off about him; hell, there was nothing that wasn't. He wasn't just pretending to get at her further though, there really was something that held his attention and pulled him to her.
Exactly what that something was is hard to explain and impossible to put a name to. She wasn't like anyone he had ever met. It wasn't lust as usually defined and it certainly wasn't love, yuck, either. He hadn't and couldn't fall for her. Scarlett had tripped him. And he hated her for it, hated everything that he admired about her, but there was nothing he could do. They continued for just a little longer. It had to end sometime, when the moment was right. Eventually Shendeth was the one who broke the kiss for a second time, looking at her with the usual smirk on his face.

He stopped the kiss this time. And when he pulled away from her, looking down at her, she could see that smirk, the one she knew all too well. It was the kind of smirk that made her want to punch him in the face. She didn't though, that would ruin the moment and the movement would probably tear open a few wounds. She knew she couldn't sit there like some dumb cow who was speechless after a little kiss. She couldn't let him think she was one of the stupid girls that inhabited the castle. So she reached forward and tapped on nail against his lips, her own smirk coming to her features as she quietly spoke. "Good thing I didn't have my make up on, I think it might give the game away." She could imagine him wandering through the school, her trademark ruby lipstick smeared across his face, it might get a few odd looks. There was a part of her though, that wished she had been able to kiss him with the makeup. If only to leave her mark on him, to claim him for hers and to make sure than none of the irritating Slytherin girls tried to go for him, she didn't need another fight. She grinned at him finally and leaned back slightly, relaxing on the bright white pillows and chuckling, then she spoke, winking at him at the same time. "Somehow I don't think Madame Pomfrey had that on my recovery plan"

He could tell his smirk was irritating to her and that was one reason why he did it so much; what she said only kept it on. She was right, he did not at all fancy walking out of here with her bright and noticeable lipstick on his face. No way. Shendeth didn't really care if she was wearing it or not. Most of the time, including right now he wore a lot of black eyeliner himself. It did seem to make her even more interesting, but as she was reminding him, what made him want to kiss her went far beyond appearance. He would never have done it if Scarlett was anything but herself.
So if that actually happened, if they did it again while she had her lipstick on well that was just fine; it would simply mean going straight to the nearest bathroom afterward to wash it off before anyone saw. It was indeed another very good thing that Madam Pomfrey had not interrupted them. She would be sure to at the least permanently ban him from the hospital wing. Pff. Shendeth gave her a bit of a devious grin in return.
"I'd just wash it off. Good thing I'm not here to get you to recover... but if you think it helps, we could always do it again."
