DEMENTOR:
He was seven years old when it happened. His family had gone on an outing to the Welsh Mountain Zoo where Tristan leaned over the railing and fell into an Eurasian Brown Bear exhibit. Although he was not injured severely during the encounter, he still has nightmares about it.
BOGGART:
For rather obvious reasons Tristan's greatest fear is any creature (Magical or Muggle) that is larger than himself such as a bear or a dragon. He is a little more calm around smaller animals like cats and whatnot, but he doesn't enjoy them any better...
AMORTENTIA:
Amortentia smells like: Rain, fields or meadows, coffee, and a light summer breeze.
Tristan smells like: Dirt, sweat, coffee or tea, and a faint hint of steel musk.
OVERALL:
Tristan is a hard and honest worker. He believes in doing things for himself and doesn't let much get in his way. He is also optimistic; not to mention brave. He would gladly risk his life if it meant saving someone else. On top of that, he doesn't mind making new friends and he appears to be non-judgmental. He could care less about blood purity, age, gender, or wealth. He especially loves accepting challenges based on almost anything such as strength, Quidditch, or intellect. He likes proving himself to others and he never backs down. He's the protective sort of friend should you ever need one.
He has a certain fondness for Muggle culture. He loves listening to their music, reading their books, and watching their shows or movies. The whole thing really fascinates him. He knows how to use his talents and tends to ignore his own disadvantages. He's impatient. He doesn't sit idle and wait for things to happen. He acts without thinking. He's hardheaded and a bit arrogant. He hates taking orders, preferring to do whatever needs to be done his way, and he thinks highly of himself. He may in fact be addicted to caffeine because he always drinks a cup of coffee or tea whenever he has the chance. He also has a slight alcohol problem as well, which came up as soon as he turned seventeen.
Tristan is hiding a deadly secret that he believes will pretty much end his career both at Hogwarts and later on in life. Although he flirts with women, he's repulsed by the fact that they can bear children. As a direct result of this, he is secretly gay.

MOTHER:
Annette Nicola Bright (nee LeFevre); 61/62; Pureblood; French Descent -- Deceased
Annette hailed from France and went to Beauxbatons when she was a student. She became a Quidditch Announcer in her mid-twenties after an accident left her paralyzed on the right side of her body. She met her soon-to-be husband during a Welsh vs. France match when he came up with his team to the box for the trophy. They hit it off right away. She then gave birth to Angela nine months later and three years later brought Tristan into the world; another three years later Joseph was born. Sometime in her mid-fifties her condition continued to deteriorate until she finally passed away over the summer. Ann was a good mother to all of her children, but she and Angela were particularly close. After she died, Tristan stepped in as much as he could for his older sister.
FATHER:
Damien Isaiah Bright; 65; Pureblood; Welsh Descent
Damien was born and raised in Wales. He hailed from Hogwarts and was a Ravenclaw. After he graduated he went into Professional Quidditch, joining the International Welsh Team where he played as Chaser for almost forty years. He recently retired in order to care for his wife, but it did him no good. Damien was a scant figure in the lives of his children because of his job. Since the death of his wife he has been growing distant...
SIBLINGS:
Older Sister: Angela Michelle Reed (nee Bright); 21; Pureblood
Angela and Tristan had always been pretty close despite their three year difference. She was sorted into Ravenclaw while he ended up in Gryffindor. At the age of sixteen she met a Muggle boy who lived in their neighborhood by the name of Ryan. Two years later she became unexpectedly pregnant with his child. The Brights weren't too happy with that since she wasn't even married yet, but Ryan was a true man and he stepped up to the plate. At this point he found out that they were all Magical, which didn't even phase him at all since his older sister is a Muggleborn. The two got married over the summer before Mrs. Bright passed away. Angela is heavily pregnant with her second child, a boy that she and Ryan are going to name Evan Kaizer Reed. She is due in late September or early October.
Younger Brother: Joseph Isaiah Bright; 15; Pureblood
Tristan and Joseph have never been close, partly because Tristan doesn't like being around younger children. They get along fine, but there is some strain there. Joey is kind of like the black sheep of the family; where his siblings are outgoing or friendly, he is more quiet and withdrawn. He basically lives in his own world occasionally. The recent death of their mother has pushed Joey even further away.
OTHERS:
Brother-in-Law: Ryan O'Connor Reed; 22; Muggle
Ryan is an alright guy. Tristan doesn't really appreciate the fact that the bloke got his sister pregnant, twice, without the two being married first. He isn't really sure who to blame more for that though. His ire towards the Muggle has gone down some since the wedding, but they still don't treat each other properly.
Sister-in-Law: Cassandra Diane Reed; 27; Muggleborn
He only met Cassie at the wedding and doesn't know much about it except for the fact that she is Magical.
Niece: Allison Grace Reed; 3; Half-Blood
Tristan doesn't like children so he always keeps his distance from Ally. The girl is sweet though and resembles Angela a lot. No one knows for sure whether or not she will be gifted with Magic in the future.
Nephew: Evan Kaizer Reed; on the way; Half-Blood
Well Evan isn't born yet, but Tristan doesn't like children so he keeps his distance from the whole pregnancy even.
OVERALL:
Tristan Damien Bright was born on September 9th, 1977 to Damien Isaiah Bright and Annette Nicola LeFevre. The two already had one child, Angela Michelle Bright, who was three years old, but they both wanted more. Tristan was quick to pick up on things like crawling, speaking, and walking. He was sent to a private school like his sister before him where he became well-known for his carefree attitude and intellect. He and his sister were very close throughout their childhood because their parents were always away. Damien - their father - was a star Quidditch player on the international Welsh team while Annette was an announcer. When Tristan was three years old, another sibling entered the Bright family by the name of Joseph Isaiah Bright.
The boy was seven years old when two things happened. He and his family went on an outing to the Welsh Mountain Zoo. Tristan leaned over the railing in order to see an Eurasian Brown Bear when he fell in. Needless to say the bear was quick to react, which spurred the young boy to access his Magic. A blast of red sparks hit the animal and it ran away. Ministry officials were called to the scene in order to erase Muggle memory, but the Brights couldn't be happier. They had another wizard in the family. The incident scarred Tristan in more ways than one though because soon afterwards he hated being around any sort of creature, even something as simple as a cat or an owl. He wanted nothing to do with them.
Soon enough the eleven-year-old Tristan was on his way to Hogwarts. His fourteen-year-old sister was riding with him. The two were quite close. She had spent the last three years relating all the good Hogwarts moments and telling stories (whether they were true or not, Tristan never fond out). She was a Ravenclaw, like their father, and she desperately wanted her baby brother to follow after her. She was quick to mention though that she didn't care what House the hat put him in. They were siblings and nothing could separate them.
Tristan was sorted into Gryffindor. He was a carefree trouble-maker. He was ever curious and he wanted to know everything. He joined the Quidditch team in his second year as Chaser. Both of his parents had played the game so it was no wonder why Bright was so good. He then went into the Reserve Team raster when Oliver Wood replaced him with Alicia Spinnet. He finally dropped out of the game altogether in his sixth year so he could focus on his studies. Most of his talent seemed to be in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, and Charms. He decided right away that he wanted to be an Auror when he read all of the career pamphlets in school. It seemed like the most interesting profession.
At the age of fifteen, Tristan (and Joseph) became Uncles to Angela's first child; a little girl named Allison Grace Reed. None of the Brights were too happy about this development since Angela wasn't even married yet, but her boyfriend stepped up to the plate and they planned their wedding. Angela was heavily pregnant with her second child during the ceremony, but it wasn't important. Mrs. Bright had the chance to see her daughter walk down the aisle before she passed away. Angela seemed particularly effected by the loss so Tristan tried to step in as much as he could. Meanwhile, his father's health has continued to slip down the drain, which was only to be expected after the tragic death of a woman who had been the center of his universe for almost forty years.
Now in his final year at Hogwarts he has heard rumors about the Triwizard Tournament and wants to put his name in the Goblet because he enjoys a good challenge. He also has some weird kind of desire to bring glory to his House, school, or even the Bright family in a whole. It's not about the money or the trophy. Tristan just thinks it will be a fun experience and hopes he is one of the chosen Champions.

[Since I usually play Tristan older than a student, I hope you don't mind an adult sample as him.]
Any sort of traveling was still a rather novel experience for Tristan Bright. He usually got around by walking or riding the Knight Bus so this Twenty Countries tour was quiet the opportunity for him. His blindness had a tendency to hinder him no matter how much he hated to admit it.
Getting to Chile was an adventure in itself because Solstice had never Floo'ed or used a Portkey before and Apparation was out for obvious reasons. Tristan's first priority was his guide dog. Sol was pretty laid back as far as he could tell so he wasn't too worried about it, but he did have a plan if she freaked nonetheless. Dirk Callaway had given him a special pill that would calm her down even under the most extreme conditions, but it wouldn't put her to sleep either (which was definitely an added bonus). It was no wonder why the blind man had elected a more Muggle way in order to reach Chile: airplane.
Once he arrived at his destination he promptly got himself lost in the sprawling city of Santiago. Even with his clicker (which was mostly used to train animals only his was louder so that he could actually pick out the sound among crowds) there was no way he could navigate easily. Tristan therefore found himself asking for help and was kindly directed to the marketplace. Come tomorrow he would have to find this area again in order to continue his journey. In the meantime though he could look around, buy some things, sample the food, listen to the music... The options were almost endless and he wanted to experience each culture firsthand. Maybe when he returned to London the Ministry would accept him back onto the force. With that thought in mind, he went on.
Bright didn't return to his room until late that night. Perhaps it had been a bad idea to sample the alcohol. He knew he had problems with drinking and yet here he was again, pleasantly buzzed. As a result of his habit he didn't wake up when he intended to; as a matter of fact, if it hadn't been for Solstice, he might have missed the Portkey all together. She was quiet insistent though, especially since she had to use the bathroom, so Tristan got up and checked the time (he wore a Braille watch on his left wrist). Cursing to himself he jumped out of bed and nearly tripped over his shoes. Quickly toeing those on and dressing in record time, he flung Sol's service jacket over his arm and was out the door.
He let his dog pee before putting her back to work. The steady ka-clicking could be heard as he trotted to the marketplace again. Tristan had taken up the habit of counting his steps and filing away any important landmarks so he wouldn't ever get lost. He was mildly surprised that he had managed to remember so much considering how much he had indulged last night. The pleasant buzz was long gone; in its place was a fierce headache.
Note to self: stop drinking.
No matter how many times the former Auror mentally wrote that down in his head, he never lived up to it. He should have just thrown away the flask before he had even gotten on the plane, but he doubted that would have solved anything. There were bars everywhere these days... After a moment or two he finally reached the Portkey or so he assumed based on the fact that a group of people were clustered around it. Knowing that the object wouldn't activate until the right time, Tristan placed his hand on it just to make sure. He reached down with his other hand and gently grabbed Solstice's ear because he knew physical contact was always the best policy to use, especially when something was about to happen that she probably wouldn't like very much...
Without further ado a hook grabbed him somewhere behind the navel and pulled. Instantly Bright knew something was wrong. He had learned long ago to trust his instincts and all of them were screaming at him. Calling it a bumpy ride would have been an understatement. There were far too many twists and turns and backflips for his taste. It just wasn't right. Something was wrong.
Tristan landed quite hard. He was disoriented for a moment as he tried to figure out what exactly had happened. He reached out for the reassuring feel of fur and found Solstice nearby, which had to be some kind of miracle. She whimpered softly.
"Easy girl, easy."
Sol quieted and nuzzled under his neck, which had been her favorite place to hide when she was a puppy... The man sighed slightly as he went through a quick mental examination of himself before moving on to his dog. He seemed to be all right other than feeling a bit queasy. He checked Solstice more slowly since he didn't have the benefit of sight to guide him. By a stroke of luck it seemed neither of them were injured as far as he could tell so Tristan stood slowly, using Sol as a sort of brace. He seemed to have lost his clicker and his sunglasses, but he could replace those easily enough... He could care less what the others thought of his eyes (the Healers had told him long ago that they had turned pure white due to the spell that had hit him).
Klick. This sound he made himself using a combination of his tongue, teeth, and cheek. It didn't work as well as a clicker since it wasn't as loud, but at least it gave him a picture. He moved forward a step, keeping Solstice next to him at all times. Klick. Seemed like everyone was doing rather well, considering the circumstances so Tristan moved on. Klick. They were on a beach, which he already knew given the fact that he had tasted sand in his mouth earlier and could hear the roar of an ocean nearby, but there were also some trees in the distant. Klick. He moved forward a couple of steps this time, quickly memorizing the layout. It seemed like the majority of the travelers were clustering together so he wasn't about to be left behind.
Solstice tensed and growled for a moment. Tristan immediately stopped. "Shh... Easy girl." She brushed up against his leg briefly. "What's the matter with you, huh?" Tristan got down in front of her. She licked his face. Meh... This was precisely why he hated animals.
