The usual weekday afternoon equated to study time in the library. Or at least, this one did. The study area was mostly quiet, with the exception of the scratching of quills and occasional shifting of books or turning of pages, as its few occupants worked. Well, not everyone was actually working. Yes, it was boring as hell either way. And considering the mountain of homework given to the seventh years due to NEWT's at the end of this year, he had better get used to it. Wasting any time at all probably wasn't wise, but who said Mikah had to be wise all the time?
The Hufflepuff seventh year leaned back in his chair, homework abandoned on the table in front of him. He hadn't really meant to procrastinate but it was in his nature to drift into daydreams. The library was stuffy and silent, and he soon found himself staring into space. Though he didn't look like a crazy spacey person, just very bored. He was more sane than people would expect if they knew who his family was, and he tried to keep looking odd to a minimum. However, his single dirigible plum earring and long hair probably gave some of it away. Though magic had somehow always kept it that way his hair was only dyed dark, naturally he had once been a blonde like his little sister, the horror.
Eventually he snapped out of his daydream enough to pull a piece of parchment closer to doodle. Even though most his age were long beyond that, all of Mikah's stuff was covered with doodles. He didn't really draw anything at first, just a random design around the edges. But there was still plenty of time to kill. In a slightly absentminded way he began to draw the person at the next table. There was no reason for it, they just happened to be there, but all the same it was probably better they were facing the other way. Hopefully they wouldn't turn around. Some people could be so touchy.

The Fire Ace was not usually seen around books of the study hall for that matter. He usually was off doing his work outside or somewhere where he could use his fire spells to make the first years oo and aw or scare them either way suited him just fine. Other times he was off making sure that his sister was okay. There were far too many family members walking around. He'd been surprised to find out that his father had another child as well and she was different from them. He did have to wonder sometimes if any of his family was actually normal. They all seemed to be hiding things under masks. He was a werewolf after all and had the tendency to at least try to see past others masks or just listen. He was a bitter teenager and he was violent there was no doubt about that but he could be kind hearted as well. It was his sister Snow that kept him human really.
Today however Ace was actually in study hall trying to get two reports done at the very last minute like usual. He would better under some sort of pressure. It was true that his reports were not due until the next day but it didn't matter. Starting them yesterday night was what he should have done considering they were decent sized papers that he had to write and was given two days to do them. The boy had a tendency to procrastinate and many wondered how he got through school with the grades that he had. He wasn't a bad student to say the least he just liked doing things on his own time. Why he was actually doing his stuff in the study hall was beyond him today. He was in one of his moods and it wasn't going to break any time soon. He had way to much weighing on his mind at the moment. All of which had nothing to do with the school work that was infront of him not getting done at the moment. Quill lay next to blank parchment paper.
Ace would have let out a scream if he cared to disturb everyone else and never be allowed in study hall again. It would be a horrible thing but he didn't want to deal with people glaring at him at the moment. He was liable to go off and hurt someone and he was trying not to do that. He had already made a name for himself with the Durmstrang boys for looking at his sister wrong. Ace let out a low groan and turned around to see who else was in the study area with him. He found a boy right behind him who seemed to be doodling on a piece of parchment. What he was doodling Ace couldn't tell but hey it was a way to strike up conversation which at times Ace was a king at and at others he just plain sucked. "Hello" [/center][/blockquote]

It took a second for the voice to get through Mikah's hazy thoughts, but once he realized that somebody had spoken he looked up and saw that his closest drawing subject had moved, though he had since proceeded to add outlines of the rest of the room. The few other students in the room with them were still absorbed in their work, so there was little doubt that the boy was the one who had spoken, and Mikah the one the greeting was directed towards as he was looking at him. It wasn't anyone he knew but that was okay when he was this bored. The seventh year generally did like to talk to people as long as they were decent, regardless of whether he was good at that or not.
"Oh, hello." he replied, looking over the other boy again now that he could see his face. They weren't in the same year, which meant that the other was younger, but not by much. He hadn't been working; he looked just as bored as Mikah. Ha. Mikah offered him a thin smile. The boy was a Slytherin but he tried to give everyone a chance. Friends were much more preferable to enemies. Which was why he tried to never have any of the latter. And at this moment they had something in common, he thought with an inward groan. He put his quill down along with the parchment, having no more care to finish that than he did what he was supposed to be doing. Please let there be something to do other than homework.

Today was one of those days that Ace was going to completey suck at striking up conversation. He was watching the other doodle after saying hello and waiting for him to answer. Finally his hello was returned and he smiled. "You randomly doodle like that often?" Ace was by no means really artistic but he did have a band tendency to draw shapes and a mouse all over his stuff when he was bored. Of course his actual turn in assignments were free from his doodles that were on his notes. He sucked at drawing but this person seemed to be really good at it from what little bit he could see of the drawing. It hadn't dawned on him yet that he was the subject of the drawing though. He could be completey oblivious to such things. He wasn't sure what else to say to the other male. He noticed the house colors on the robes and the fact that the boy was older then he as but that didn't bug him.
Ace could be your a-typical Slytherin or not care at all for house differences. He really didn't care who he made friends or enemies with. As long as they didn't go after his sister he was fine with them. The moment they even looked at his sister wrong he was on them. Of course right now he was being rather sociable for himself and rather proud of himself for doing so. "I take it you are trying to get homework done as well." He was really failing with the small talk thing today. However he didn't much care about that. He turned back around to make sure all his stuff was in a neat little pile so that he could get it back when his brain felt like working on it again. His voice was a low whisper so as not to disturb the people actually working around the two.

Just because Mikah liked to talk didn't mean he was all that good at it. So if the other boy wasn't either he wasn't going to notice too much. The Slytherin smiled and the question did not sound mocking or rude as it could have been from someone wearing those colors. So far so good. "Well, yeah.. I do." he answered almost thoughtfully. He didn't think about it too much. Doodles were random but when he never stopped doing it it wasn't really random then now was it. Not wanting to say much more on this subject. He nodded to the next statement.
"Yeah. Well.. not really trying." he answered with a bit of a groan, glancing at the abandoned homework he had given up trying to do at this time. Oh well. If he was trying to work then he wouldn't have been drawing at random he would be working. Mikah was usually good with schoolwork and getting it done on time but.. meh. That didn't mean he liked it. Casting around for something to say himself he remembered that he didn't know who the kid was. Well it was a necessary part of any conversation with someone for the first time.
"I'm Mikah Lovegood, by the way. Who are you?" And don't laugh or anything because of my name. He usually wasn't laughed at personally, especially not in recent years, but still. Prejudice or whatever it was. That was really getting old.

Ace was probably better at holding a conversation then his sister but he still sucked at it most of the time. He was the one that had to talk that was all and he had a way of talking himself right into trouble or right back out of it. Trying to get a conversation started sucked no matter how talkative one might be in the first place though. One could never be too sure about what to start a conversation off with in the first place. Ace was not one to ask to many questions either. Ace smiled at the other as he said that he did like to doodle randomly. "Probably helps with things are boring you to death right?" Ace didn't have many things that he did when he was in the middle of class that helped with that. Most of the time he had to force himself not to go off into day dream land or plotting land. That was never good in the first place. Not when he was supposed to be paying attention to what was going on in class in the first place.
Ace merely nodded at the statement made about homework. His own was abandoned as well. It wasn't like it wasn't going to get done at some point. "Mikah that's a very interesting name. I like it. I'm Ace...Ace Black." He never thought to introduce himself by his mother's last name or anything like that. I really didn't matter to him what so ever. Just like he didn't care that he was talking nicely to someone who was not of his house in the first place. "You have a little sister don't you? I've heard your last name before from my sister." Snow had sad something about a girl named Luna and so had someone in his house really though nothing from his house came off as a good thing.

Mikah gave a bored nod. Sometimes it helped as a way to pass the time, but as a solution there was only so far doodling could go. At times such as right now it had run its course and only proved to make things seem more boring. Being this bored and having so many things to do at the same time was quite the feat, but here he was. "Nice to meet you Ace." So he didn't really want to talk about that or being bored, that just made it worse. If that was even possible. He highly doubted it.
"Thank you, so is yours." It was the only thing to say. Mikah was an unusual name and he did like it. But there also weren't many people he had met who called themselves Ace either. Not many as in none. He didn't know if it was a nickname or his real name but that didn't matter. It was what he wanted people to call him apparently and that was good enough. Ace, he liked it and it seemed to fit the boy in front of him somehow.
The Hufflepuff nodded again. "Yes, I do." he smiled a little at the thought of Luna. "Who's your sister?" The name Black was familiar as well but he didn't know any of them personally, so he wouldn't judge. Not as long as they were fine with Luna. Most of the time he left the girl to her own devices but hell, she needed some protecting. Her craziness just made her all the more lovable in his opinion but not everyone thought that way, he hated the people that made fun of her. He wondered who Ace's sister was and how she knew Luna.
