Charlie could think of things she would rather be doing right now. Climbing a tree, or reading. But it seemed she was doomed to sit here for a while, waiting for someone to come along. Climbing and reading were preferred, but she had already done those and according to the girls in her dorm, she had to spend some time with other human beings who were not them. She had sighed and walked from the building with little joy in her heart. The 7th year was bored of sitting around waiting for something to happen, it seemed like such a stupid idea. But she stayed none the less, curious as to who might come here and why they would if they did appear. She licked her lips and shook her hair away from her face, staring out at the world as though vaguely interested by it. Her dark eyes rolled to the sky as she waited, counting the seconds, slowly and surely. She needed to move, and soon, her muscles were starting to feel tight from lack of use and she was twitching and fidgeting from boredom. Then she looked up at the sound of footsteps approaching.

One of these days Mal was going to attach a bell to the elusive puppy dog he'd been following around. Okay so Stella had eluded him once again. He was bored without one of his best mates to keep him company. Stella had been with him through think and thin since they day the met at Drumstrang. Of course she'd be a transfer student in his third year but still. There was a bound between the two that would hardly be broken. Still he needed to get a life of his own as she like to tell him. He gave out a sigh of annoyance and then chuckled to himself. Leave it to Stella to drag him off and leave him to his own devices while she went and found some other place they could explore later on. He couldn't find Viktor anywhere either and Lance was off being Lance he presumed so here he was wandering around on his own.
He walked out of the mighty castle. It was different from his home of five years. He wasn't sure he was liking it or not just yet but he did like sitting in on the potion masters instructions when he got the chance. He came across as stone circle and a girl sitting down slightly fidgeting. He put on a smile and approached her as she looked in his direction. "Might I ask what a female is doing on her own alone out here? As I take it most girls should be surrounded by giggling friends. Or do you prefer being alone?" He chuckled to himself knowing full well he was asking to many questions his german accent coming out only slightly mixed in with the british he was not exactly horrible at. Accents and language only too him so long to practice before he had them somewhat down. Next to potions language was probably his second love. [/blockquote]

She looked up at the boy as he approached, a smile slipping onto her face. She couldn't identify him and she knew most of the school by name if not well, so she assumed he must be from another school and had come here for the tournament. Personally she was really interested, she had long considered joining and finally she thought she should put her name down, might as well try.
He spoke and she was proved right as his German accent came through. However his words made her jump to her feet, eyes burning with anger as her feminist side kicked in. "Just because I am a female I can't be out here alone? You wouldn't question it if I was a guy. Anyway, my gender doesn't mean my sole purpose in life is to giggle in a group of girls" She was glaring at the boy like he was Voldemort himself and maybe she was over-reacting a bit. But she didn't take this rubbish from anyone and he wasn't going to be the exception. She might not be very tall, but the fire in her eyes made her fairly intimidating. She glanced away, knowing she might have been slightly too harsh and muttered. "Sorry, if your gonna take that badly."

Mal watched the girl for a long moment. A smile slipped onto her face and her whole body language began to change. She was passing judgment on him and he rather wondered what she might be thinking. He was sure his words would strike her as odd and probably very well anti-feminist but that was very untrue. He was testing the waters and liked to see what made people tick. He was one to start things were they should end and not where they were likely to start. If Stella had been with him he would have gotten his ass hexed in about two seconds. Stella was quick on the draw. Actually she was much quicker then her was but he had the hidden passion behind some of the spells he used. That was what made the powerful. He shook of his thoughts to hear what the girl had to say. His smirk wiped of his face. It was better to fain apology and look like he meant it. Of course he really did mean it contrary to his own popular thoughts. He was not extremely cruel just a bit demented with the loss of his sister and his father being the worse then dead numb nut that he was. Needless to say he just need a bit of help.
"No need to apologize miss. I'm known for my rash speaking. Terribly sorry I did not mean to offend." He words came out in a calm and soothing tone. He meant the words he said and there was no doubt in his posture and in his eyes that he meant it. "My best friend would have my ass for what I just sad to you. I am sorry." He was going to take it that she liked to be alone like Stella did or rather be in the company of males. Mal was satisfied with himself and gave her a hand to shake. "I'm Malcolm, though most people call me Mal. I'm from Drumstrang. You are? He gave a slight bow his hand still out for her to shake. Customs were taught well and not lost on Mal even though he might not always use them. He was a proper gentlemen when he needed to be. [/blockquote]

Charlie merely raised and eyebrow at the apology, but the manors her Father had tried to install in her broke through and she grudgingly accepted the apology with a dipped head. She was about to say that if he did not mean it, he should not have said it. But it would not be a good idea to inflame the situation anymore. Charlie did not believe he genuinely thought what he said, it sounded like an easy way to stop a fight. Something she wasn't fond of, but starting a fight know would only get her in trouble. Durmstrang eh? She had yet to actually speak to a Durmstrang student and frankly she was hoping they weren't all like this one. "Charlie..." She shook his outstretched hand before taking a step back, her arms crossing over her chest as she added with a slight smile: "What's a pretty boy like yourself doing out here all alone?" She laughed softly, to indicate she wasn't being mean, hopefully he would get it. Otherwise she could conclude that Durmstrang students weren't too bright.
She held in a sigh, hoping with all her might that this encounter would be more interesting than just talking. Charlie was not one for idle gossiping, which might be why she was more comfortable with guys. Although they did gossip sometimes, they understood the value of a good run or the fun of climbing a tree. So many girls in the school didn't. This boy might be like them, interesting. She had always wanted to visit another wizarding school, if only to conclude that Hogwarts was better. So when she tilted her head and spoke again, it was not out of pure manors. "What's it like at Durmstrang? Do the girls all stand around and gossip? Are all the boys obsessed with Quidditch?"

Mal had a way of starting things the wrong way. Stella concluded that it was a habit that at some point he's loose. After all he really was a charming young man. It was just that he was slightly out of place in a place obviously. He wasn't sure how people here would react to anything and as a matter of fact he liked to know what made people tick right off the bat. That was just the way he was. Now all of that would be put behind him for further looking at when he was not around the girl. She didn't seem to want to take his apology first and he could understand. However most people realized that he meant and yet didn't mean some of the things he said and that was all a matter of him perfecting the art of deception. You never knew what was going through his mind which was to his advantage and to that of his friends that knew him very well.
He smiled as she took his hand and said her name. He let out a chuckle as she used his line back to him. "I got drug out here by one of my friends who decided to up and run away from me. I swear I'm going to make her wear a bell around her neck." At his own comments he laughed. To the contrary the Durmstrang students were reather intelligent of course there were the stupid ones like at any school but generally they took their studying seriously even those that slacked got what was needed done. They were a rather special breed of their own really. Though the typical teenage things happened within the walls of Durmstrang but they were good with remembering that some of the things they learned should not be practiced unless in a very controlled environment. So smart they were.
He would tell she was getting slightly antsy. It brought a smile to his face because that meant he wouldn't have to talk her ear off or her his. He started thinking about what they could go and do instead of just standing here and talking. He smiled at her questions about Durmgstrang and laughed at her perception of boys and girls. He had to admit that of what he had seen of Hogwarts she had the rights to say what she did. "Durmstrang is smaller than Hogwarts and most of the year we are indoors because it's far to cold to be outside unless you love the snow. However there is a low population of girls and they tend to stick to themselves for the most part so I suppose they gossip but it never really gets around the school that they do. The other half of them hang out with the guys as if they were one of us and are some of our greatest rivals. And no the boys aren't obsessed about Quidditch." In all honesty when Quidditch was in season it was the talk of the school not just the individuals that were on the team or not. It was a huge deal for them because they could finally go outside and that always had them excited. "So what do you do here for fun? I take it you don't stand for gossiping and small talk." He wasn't one for that either but he could fool anyone. [/blockquote]
