It had taken him 30 minutes longer than usual to get up there. Not because he had bumped into anyone or because he had been trying not to be seen but because he had been convincing himself as he walked to go though with the plan he had been building on for a while, to finally kiss his childhood crush; this distracting thought had lead to Draco taking a few wrong turns which lead to him having to back track to continue on his way.
Where was he going you might ask, and why was he so worried about kissing Nellie right now. Well the answer was simple, Nellie had been found passed out again that morning by her dorm mates and anyone who was close to the Diggory family would know why and that reason was one word, one horrible muggle word that Draco had hated since the first time his parents told him what it meant. Leukemia.
He was worried that she wouldn't want to be with him since her life was going to be a short one even if she managed to fight of the disease again but then on the other hand he was worried that she would say yes just because she didn't want to die without trying to cut down the list of things she had never tried...like kissing Draco, going on dates with Draco, cuddling Draco, sharing a bed with Draco....and may other thing Draco had though about doing with Nellie that he hoped she had thought of too.
His feet came to a stop, looking up Draco realised he was in fornt of the hospital wing, the lights where off inside telling him it would be safe for him to slip in and she the person he had meaning to without having t worry about being bodily carried out; WHICH he would like to point out now only happened once.
There was one other thing, small thing really but still it was enough to make Draco hesitate more at the door, he didn't like the hospital wing, despised it really. He had only ever visited Nellie once before in here and that was also the time he had been carried out....he had been drugged with a cheering potion by his sister though.
Come on Draco. Do this. Consider it a now or never moment. Are you a Malfoy or not?' With a deep breath in Draco stepping over into the large room he had been looking into, he knew even without the light exactly which bed Nellie would be in, it was the one she was always in when she was here, he had gotten the information from his godfather. Walking lightly over the stone floor Draco approached the bed, he could she the dark lump curled up in the middle of it that would be Nellie "Nellie?" He whispered as he leaned over the unmoving form "Are you awake?"

Nellie lay staring up at the ceiling tears streaming down her face. She hated blacking out but what she hated more was waking up with no one around her and in a dark room. It scared her more than words could say. She wasn't afraid of the dark she just didn't like waking up from the dark to more dark. It was like she hadn't woken up at all. Of course she knew she had because her body she could move and other such things. She was in the hospital wing she was sure. She knew she'd passed out in potions fully not meaning too. She didn't even know where the black out had come from. It was completely random. She sighed and tried to dry her eyes. She was sure her brother was out patroling or something because he wasn't by her side like usual. Or was it that she had been brought in and she had been out longer then she thought she had been. That was possible after all. It was so dark in the hospital wing it was probably a few hours past dark. She shrugged that off and turned on her side curling up into the fetal position.
She lay there for what seemed like hours. She didn't want to close her eyes again fearing that she wouldn't wake back up this time. She could see a dim light coming from Madame Pomfery's office. The healer was probably sitting at her desk waiting for Nellie to make a sound probably. The only thing was was Nellie never really made any sound. That would mean that Madame Pomfery would come out of her office at some point and give her tea or something like that to calm her nerves. No sooner had she thought it did a figure walk out of the office. She smiled up at Madame Pomfery as she lay the tea by her bed side. There were no words that needed to be spoken as she knew Madame Pomfery expected her to have the tea in her stomach by the next time Madam Pomfery came out of her office.
Nellie obliged to the silent spoken order. She sat herself up and with shakey hands began to drink the tea. No one had come to see her so maybe Cedric really was out on patrol. She finished off the tea and curled up once again. She closed her eyes and suddenly heard footsteps walking closer to her bed. She flipped around towards the sound and waited to see who it was. She noticed the hair before the voice began to speak. It was Draco Malfoy and the boy that Nellie had has a crush on for awhile now. "Yes I'm awake." That was all she could say for right now. She reached out a hand to grab his though. [/blockquote]

He smiled as she replied though he knew she probably couldn't see it, moving her small hand into his Draco lowly intertwined their fingers as he moved closer, he didn't know what do do now, he knew how he wanted this to end but when he had called her name some part of him had been hoping that she wouldn't say anything back so he could have checked on her and returned to his dorm with the promise to himself to complete his plan another time.
But she had replied, she was awake and he had her hand held in his, the darkness of the hospital wing seemed to be watching as he sat himself on the edge of the bed so he was facing her.
"I'm glad" He confessed, his thumb stroked over the back of Nellie's palm as he dropped his gaze to look at their joined hands, he had always found it interesting how she managed to be even paler than him but then it made him sad at the same time. He knew why he was pale, it had nothing in common to do with why Nellie was and just that little reminder of his illness made his stomach clench as his doubts swam to the front of his mind once again "I was worried"
Looking up from their hands Draco took first first real look at Nellie, he had never seen her so soon after a blackout, her visitors were restricted to just family until the day after usually so he was a bit shock to see her looking so....so Ill; there was no other word for it unless he wanted to admit to himself that she looked like death. He didn't want to look and her and think of death so he looked away.
"You need to be more careful" He insisted, his gaze fell to their hands again, his thumb still stroking over the back of hers "I," He stopped, he had been going to say he couldn't stand it if she had left him already.
There were so many things he wanted to say, some many things he had been planning to say once he was alone with her again but now here he was and his throat was so dry he felt for sure any attempt at conversation and he would only be able to croak.

Nellie had a huge crush on Draco. She'd had a crush on him since the day she and Amaranta had figured out what that would meant. Amaranta knew that Nellie like Draco but she never said anything to Nellie about Draco feeling the same way. Nellie was sure Amaranta kept the fact that Nellie had a crush on him from him as well. Amaranta was just the type of person to do that where the two of them were involved. However, she was the one to push them together at certain moments too. Still regardless of all that Nellie had a huge crush on Draco. She was sure it could even be possibly called love. Still she was afraid of admitting such things. Afraid Draco would not want her because she would have such a short life. However, she planned on living as long as she could with what she had. She was going to make it through all of this. She was going to live for a long time. Least that's what she kept telling herself knowing full well that she could die any day any time.
Nellie figure that if she feared death she'd just go crazy so she didn't fear it. However, that didn't mean she'd accept her fate in dying young. No it meant that she'd fight all the more for it. She felt Draco's fingers entwining with her own and she felt warmth from him. It was something she was sure that only she and Amaranta felt coming from Draco. Everyone else just saw him as a Slytherin Malfoy. Cold and cruel just like his father. She was sure that that was the mask that he choose to wear and it was a mask even Amaranta wore at times. However when they were all alone together things were different. Yes it was possible for Amaranta and Draco to be killers but she found it highly unlikely unless something was put in front of them giving them no choice. Nellie was as she would always be. A calm collected voice of reason. She would remain like that no matter how sick she got.
She smiled as his thumb stroked her palm. It was a soothing calming gesture that was not lost on Nellie. She rather liked it. She was oh so glad that he had come. "I'm glad your here. I don't know how much longer I'd be able to take the dark alone. Its like I haven't woken up because it so dark here and its scary." There was a hint of fear in her voice but Draco would know why the dark of the hospital wing would scare her, and why it would remind her of her own black out dark. She also knew Draco hated hospitals and the hospital wing as much as se did. He was worried that was something she could not help but set up and hug him for. She didn't want hi to be worried at all. She let out a wince of pain as she'd moved to fast to hug him but covered it up. She stayed like that for a moment. "I'm trying Draco I really am." She let go of him. "How...How long have I been out do you know?" She had no clue and wanted to know. [/blockquote]

As her hand slipped though his to rest on her knee the only thing Draco could think of was picking it back up, he knew when she needed her space though and even if he didn't want to give it he shuffled back a half step. "Not long I don't think" He confessed, in all honest he didn't know if she had been awake or not in the time she had been here "I'm sorry I wasn't here before" He added, he wasn't sure why but he didn't like to hear that lost tone in her voice, she had never been a loud speaker but in all his memories of Nellie she had never sounded so lost.
With this in mind Draco slowly reached for his wand; it was stuck up his robe arm so it wasn't difficult to pull it out and light the end. Warm yellow light spilled around the ward leaving some corners in the dark put around Nellie's bed the darkness left, chased away as if by magic. "I'm glad your awake Nellie" He swallowed nervously; he had to ask her now, before she fell asleep again or he was caught (because there was no way the nurse would miss the light spilling from his wand) "There is something I have been wanting to ask you for a while now" He confessed, lifting his now empty hand from the top of her bedding Draco ran the pad of his thumb along his bottom lip, a nervous habit he'd had since he was a child.
"I hope you don't mind if I ask you here" He glanced around them, at the bed pan he could see on the floor at the bottom of the small metal framed bed and the tray of needles he had only noticed on the beside table because the light off his wand flashed off them "I had planned to ask you somewhere else put..." He paused to clear his throat, he wasn't ready to admit what he was going to say then, not until he was sure she liked him as much as he liked her "Will you go out with me?" Looking up Draco made sure to meet her gaze "On a date" He added, more for his own sake than because he thought she might misunderstand him.
