Ginny looked at her mother with rather annoyed eyes. Everyone was ready to go to school. They would be leaving bright and early the next morning. He father would not be around to see them off this year. He had said something about important things needing to be done in the Ministry and that he had to take a twenty four hour shift there. He had left eleven that morning. She didn't want to leave for school without saying goodbye to her father but her mother was making it damn near impossible to use the floo network to do such a thing. It wasn't like Ginny couldn't walk out of the house and fly to the visitors entrance of the Ministry but she didn't want too. She took a deep breath and walked up to her room.
"My my sister mom at it again." The twin's voices rang in her ears. "Yes but I'll figure something out." "We are certain you will." Ginny shook her head as she sat on her bed thinking. A couple of minutes later the twins were asking their mother questions as they usually did when they were bored enough to do so. Ginny slipped right past them all and used the Floo powder she had gotten earlier and made it out on the other side of the ministry.
It wasn't extremely busy right now so it was easy for her to move from one place to another. She brushed herself off and walked down the hall to the elevators. She was intending on finding her father rather quickly so that she could get home without her mother getting on her case for it. Her parents were proud of her for going to Hogwarts but not so proud of that fact that she had gotten into Slytherin. Her mother wasn't happy about that anyways. She thought the house would change her dear child. Little did she know that Ginny was still just Ginny. It wasn't like she was going to let the motto of a house destroy who she was.
She walked through the ministry taking stopping to take a look at the poster of the Minister. She wondered about him sometimes. She wondered if he was truly going to be able to lead them all for a very long time to come. He seemed so easily corrupted with what happened last year anyways. [/blockquote]

He saw her for a second, a flash of red hair somewhere ahead of him. It took another few moments for him to work out who she was. Weasley, Ginnerva wasn't it? Whatever it was, it shouldn't matter to him. Lucius didn't associate himself with bloodtraiters or their thousands of offspring, as was the case with the Weasley family. He was about to turn to go, when a thought struck him. She was the girl, the one he had given the diary to. A big mistake obviously, but there was more. Lucius had given it to the girl in Flourish and Blotts because her father irritated him. But Draco had told him something as they had headed home. That was it. The girl was a Slytherin, the first Weasley Slytherin in a long time. A smirk brushed across his features and he let out a tiny chuckle. Well she must have been a surprise for mummy and daddy, their pretty little daughter an evil Slytherin? This was perfect. He shouldn't have given the diary to her, it was not dramatic enough. One of the other children sure, he couldn't care less about them. They were all irrelevant, dull, bratty redheads. But little Ginny Weasley was something new, she was interesting enough that he turned to follow her. You didn't get into Slytherin by luck, you got in because you deserved it. So how had she managed to slip through the cracks?
He found her by a poster of the minister of magic. Stupid, arrogant, greedy little worm that he was. "What is a child doing wandering around the Ministry of Magic? Shouldn't you be at home with all of the other Weasley...Children?" He stood next to her, close enough to hit her, the thought had occurred to him, but he resisted the urge and continued. "Does anyone know you are here? not everyone here will be as nice to a child running around the place, as I am." He smirked down at her, grey eyes glinting.

Ginny wasn't exactly an evil child. She wasn't exactly the prime canidate for Slytherin. Least not when one took the first glance at her. She had a very different way of thinking about things. Sure muggles has some pretty interesting ideas and such but she hated the fact that everything they wrote or protrayed as witches or wizards were bad. They were afraid of them and that was why they had to be kept in another world altogether. She did dream of a day where all could be in the world. Not just wizards in the Wizarding world and Muggles in the muggle world. However she was sure that would never happen. That probably wasn't the Slytherin way of thinking either. At some point some one had to run things correcting and at the moment the stupid minister was just that stupid. He was so currupt and idiotic he was a laughing stock and she'd do almost anything to bring in down and show him how stupid he was. What is the dark lord came back? What would the dumb head do then?
She chided herself in her head for her lack of wittyness on the part of what to call the Minister. She had not been paying attention to the fact that there were others around her until she heard the sound of steps stop right behind her. She knew the voice before she turned to look at the man that was behind her and moved so that he was next to her now. "Well Mr. Malfoy" Her voice was curt and dark something that most never thought could come out of the fiesty Weasley girl. Least those that kept her in the same regards as the rest of her family. "I'm here to say goodbye to my father. My mother doesn't know I'm here and I'll probably get a lecture when I get back but I don't rightly care. My brothers probably know I'm here." That was all she had to say about being in the ministry unaccompanied by an adult. she knew that most people wouldn't be kind to her but she could hold her own.
"With all due respect Mr. Malfoy I can hold my own quite well thank you." She fell silent still staring at the Poster of the minister. "He's such an idiot." She mumbled in a rather dark tone but was sure that Lucius could hear her. She turned back to look at him. "Why did you give me that journal back in my first year Mr. Malfoy?" That had been a question plaguing the girl for the last two years. Of course she would welcome just a curt answer from him about it. She didn't need the details though it would be nice. He glanced around, suddenly finding that many of the people who had been lingering around the corridor had mysteriously disappeared. They tended to do that whenever he came too close. From their attitudes one might think they were scared of him. He managed not to chuckle at the thought of many of his colleagues fear when he spoke to them. They were so pathetic and weak-minded. If they showed that they had just a few brain cells, he might be a little nicer to them. Until then he had to keep the busy, heaven knows what they would be doing otherwise.
He did however chuckle at her cunning as she told of running from her mother. It wasn't a pleasant chuckle, in fact it was rather harsh and some would convince you his very laugh was infused with dark magic. He didn't give a verbal response to her childish idea that she could defend herself. He merely rolled his eyes and let her continue. She was so young, he could have her dead in a few seconds with no trouble at all. That was easy, he was well-versed in hurting people. Her next words made him pause and look at her for a second longer, such an intelligent statement from someone so young and so poor. "That's why he was elected." He spoke quietly, looking at her intently and considering his answer to her question. Of course he could ignore the brat and walk away with his head held high. But...he had almost killed her and that wasn't something that sat well with Lucius, not the killing of young innocents, however annoying they might be. "You are a Weasley. You father has not made life easy for me, you should know that. How ironic would it be for his daughter to end up in possession of a dark object?" He had said to much already, Lucius Malfoy did not talk to commoners. He considered going and was about to turn when he felt the need to add. "Your death was not part of the plan. I never intended that to happen."

Ginny realized she should probably go and find her father but she was far to entertained with the fact that Lucius was actually talking to her or rather he had made his presence known. She was not afraid of the man like it looked like most of his colleagues were. She wondered why that was. After all, all you had to do was exactly as he told your too or well use you brain and be more strong willed then he was. Of course this was coming out of the head of a thirteen year old girl who didn't know half of what the man next to her had done to anyone really. She knew that he'd been involved int he first war and not on her parents side. She knew he was a bad egg according to her mother but Ginny hadn't really found anything to make her not respect the man. However, could that be the Slytherin side of her talking. She was friends with his daughter and she was in the same house as his son. She of course knew half in not more of the Gryffindor house thanks to being in the family that she was. Still she had it in her to be extremely cold and calculating. Her innocence was at most fained when it came to certain things.
She Ginny probably couldn't hold her own with Lucius. She was sure that the other members of the Ministry staff she could. A well placed smile and words seemed to get her where she wanted with them. Lucius was not as easy. He could very easily torture her if he so choose to do so. She was not at all surprised with his body langauge when she said that she could hold her own. However after her statement about the minister she was surprised to find him still looking at her. "He was elected so that he could be used by his advisors to meet the ends I'm sure." That was all she had to say about that. The many was truly too weak minded to run the Wizarding world on his own. Though that was not to say that Voldemort could do any better. He'd rule it with fear and one could only surpress people with fear for so long had the Dark Lords completely forgotten about that. Or did they even read their history books.
She was starting to wonder why he had not walked away from her yet. Finally he spoke about why he had given her the diary. So his hatred for her father and family was what got her almost killed. Well she wouldn't blame her dad for anything ever but she could see how vastly different he and Lucius were and how that could be a problem for the both of them. However, little did he know that Ginny had another dark object she hid from her family. Though of course it was just a ban book on the dark arts that she had gotten in knockturn when she wasn't with her mother. She could be a rather devious little girl when she wanted to be. She just gave him a nod to that comment and watched him get ready to turn to go. The words he said next made her do a mental double take on what she had heard.
"Do you mean to tell me sir that you did know know the journal could kill me. Also with that journal gone would Voldemort not be angry with you if he were to somehow rise again?" She said the name Voldemort in a rather hushed tone so that no one else but Lucius could hear here. There was a mark of indifference in the name as well. She did not side with any side at the moment even if she as crushing on the boy who lived. She would rather stay out of it all until she was completely drug into too deep. [/blockquote]

He reached out, an alabaster finger brushing over the poster, a look of disgust crossing his face as he nodded at her words. "Very observant Miss Weasley. Maybe you have managed to retain some of the brains much of the rest of your family seems to have lost. The minister is a tool that anyone can pick up and use for their gain." His facial expression clearly showed that he didn't view that as a bad thing, just as occasionally inconvenient. Sure there were times when he was glad for it, but other times when the Minister had to led along like a child, a long and boring process.
He looked down at her as she spoke and a flicker of something close to sadness flickered across his face before he turned back to face her, mask back in place. Lucius didn't like being thought of as a brutal killer. He did not kill for fun, nor did he kill children, yet it seemed to be an assumption that most the population seemed to have about him. His eyes burned with cold flames of anger as he leaned close to the girl, voice a low and deadly purr. I am not a child killer Miss Weasley, contrary to what your parents might have told you. The truth is so much more complicated than their pathetic brains could handle! He leaned away, resting both hands on his snake-headed cane and peering down at her with a sneer adorning his face. "The Dark Lord is none of your concern, girl.

Ginny watched Lucius touch the poster of the minister with a look of disgust crossing his face. He was agreeing with what she said. So he thought that her family had no brains. She could see that out of her brothers at times so he did have a valid point. However she was female and she never be held in the same light as her brother for that mere fact. She was not stupid. She was rather intelligent and that was something she prided herself in. The use of ones brain and gaining knowledge was held high in her standards. Acquiring knowledge was also a life lone process. However what he said she would take as a compliment with a slight nod. He seemed however happy that he could control the Minister and yet not happy at the same times. She figured it was because one might have to lead the Minister along and that could be rather annoying she was sure.
Something changed in his demeanor but it did not stay long before Lucius was looking at her with his same cold stare that seemed to scare everyone else. It didn't scare her. It actually didn't even make her nervous. She was more alert however because he could at any second do something mean. However something told her that he would not kill her as she was still just a child and no matter how much of a killer he was or wasn't he wouldn't kill kids. She wasn't sure how she knew that but there was just something in his cold eyes that told her he did not like the thought of killing a child. His voice as he spoke sent shivers down her spine but she didn't show it. She nodded to what he had said about not being a child killer. Her assumptions in eyes and body language has been right. Her parents had told her that he was a killer and a bad man but she never judged him from that because far as she knew now he had not killed or tried to kill anyone but her.
It sounded like he hadn't meant for that to happen in the first place. She was sure that there was more degrees of complication in being a member of the death eaters then any of the order could fathom. Far beyond just the once a death eater always a death eater type deal that they made when they got their marks. Lucius hid his well but many of the ministry knew what he had been. He moved away from her a bit and was resting on his cane. The dark lord her said was not of her concern. He was probably right with that one but she couldn't help thinking that it might be. There was tension around and something was just off. Not to mention rumors were running around like wildfire. Voldemort could rise again. She's heard that more then once and she herself was starting to believe it would be sooner rather then later.
"I suppose you are right. However if I was Voldemort I would be angry that a cherished possession of mine was destroyed. I would feel a little betrayed that a loyal member allowed it. But them that's just me and I was possessed by a fragment of him that seemed to thing that sort of thing and not have any issue in taking my life to rise again. He's coming back at some point." She took a deep breath and gave one last look at him before she looked back at the poster of the minister and then towards the elevators. Her father was in one of them and he spotted her as the elevator stopped and he didn't seem to happy to see that Lucius was once again around his daughter and Ginny figured her time with Mr. Malfoy was over. It was nice to know though that he had not intended to kill her. There was more to this man then met the eye and the popular belief. Respect she had more of for him now regardless of how he thought about her family. [/blockquote]
