(song is constant as the stars above from Barbie as Rapanzel. My two twin 3 year cousins made me watch it today)
Narcissa danced around the manor, with music in her head. It was one of those days when she would dance for hours or sing, it was her passion that fueled her energy. She and Lucius had invited their children's Godfather Severus Snape over for dinner and it was going to be interesting.
"Constant as the stars above Always know that you are loved And my love shining in you Will help you make your dreams come true Will help your dreams come true
The lamb lies down and rests it head On its mother's downy bed Dolphin plays in the moonlight's glow And butterfly dreams of a violet rose Dreams of a violet rose
I'll cradle you in my arms tonight As sun embraces the moonlight The clouds will carry us off tonight Our dreams will run deep like the sea Our dreams will run deep like the sea
Constant as the stars above Always know that you are loved And my love shining in you Will help you make your dreams come true Will help your dreams come true"
she sang as she entered hers and Lucius's bedroom. She slipped on a green and sliver evening gown and made her away back down stairs where she awaited her guest and her husband to arrive.

To be invited to Malfoy Manor was supposedly a prestigious honor, but Severus had visited the place more times than he could count. He always came over when he was wanted though; he never dropped by randomly. This night was no exception. He had been asked to attend a dinner by Lucius and he couldn't very well refuse such an offer so he now found himself in front of the wrought iron gates. Normally they didn't lift for anyone without permission beforehand; however, Snape had special privileges. He was the God-father of the Malfoy children, after all, so he actually had every right to come and go as he pleased. He just didn't do that though because he had a certain respect for the privacy of others. There was also a small part of him that knew he was an in-between man which meant that he didn't belong anywhere.
Not at Malfoy Manor or with the Death Eaters; not at the Order; and not even at Hogwarts. He always played his role everywhere he went; never being himself.
He passed through the barrier without any problems and made his way through the garden. It was truly a beautiful place. Severus allowed a small smirk to grace his features as soon as he saw the manor. He paused on the stoop and took a deep breath. Despite his friendship with the Malfoys, he was still a little nervous whenever he visited. Snape was on a different rung compared to them; he had grown up poor, never knowing what it was like to even receive a good present for Christmas. He was also a simple man even though he had more gold now than he knew what to do with, but he wasn't rich. He debated with himself whether he should knock or just come in. Sensibilities told him to wait so he rang the bell.
Ding dong.

Narcissa pulled out a green hair ribbon and tied her hair up as she looked in the glided mirror, her platium blonde hair was soft and silkly to the touch. She heard the doorbell "GET THE DOOR!" she yelled to the house elf. Her eyes darted to the piano, she figureed she would get some practice in even though she did not require it.
She sat down as her fingertips brushed the keys a song slipped out of her ruby red lips
"We were strangers, starting out on a journey Never dreaming what we'd have to go through Now here we are and I'm suddenly standing At the beginning with you
No one told me I was going to find you Unexpected, what you did to my heart When I lost hope, you were there to remind me This is the start
And life is a road and I wanna keep going Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing Life is a road, now and forever Wonderful journey I'll be there when the world stops turning I'll be there when the storm is through In the end I wanna be standing At the beginning with you"
her voice chimed like bells to anyone in the room let alone the manor. "hello Severus"

Severus hadn't been expecting to see Lucius or Narcissa answer the door and he wasn't all that surprised to find a House-Elf greeting him a few seconds later. The small creature bowed and led the way through the Malfoy Manor; not that Snape needed a guide since he had been here so often, but he didn't want to seem rude either so he followed without comment. He could hear the piano playing, which was soon joined by a musical voice that no doubt belonged to none other than the lady of the house. It was a beautiful tone and it got louder as the House-Elf took him to where Narcissa was. He gave the woman a slight smile as she said hello.
"Good evening, Narcissa. I must say that your music is lovely, as always." The younger man lowered his head somewhat. "Thank you for inviting me over for dinner tonight. I do hope that your cooks have remembered that I am a somewhat picker eater at best. But... ah... What's this? Where is Lucius?"

Narcissa smiled as she got up frrom the piano and shee gracefully waalked towards him "welcome, and thank you" she said giving him a friendly smile "Lucius should be home soon, he is at work. And I reminded them this morning" she said reassuring him. "although if it;s a pretty bad day, Luce will be late." she said in those soft, sweet, bell like, tones of her voice. "why dont we take a seat" she said being very polite.

"Good to know."
Severus was the type of man who tended to avoid the heavily seasoned affairs that Hogwarts put out for meals, which was part of the reason he took to eating in his chambers a lot of the time. It had nothing to do with the strength of his stomach (he could handle pretty much anything in there), but rather his own personal preference. Food to him was just yet another thing he could control and he took pleasure in doing so because it allowed the man to feel good about himself. Contrary to popular belief he was not a Vampire. He was, however, somewhat of a vegetarian. He only ate meat when he was in the mood and he usually stuck to simple dishes like steak or fish. He had basically put himself on a diet in order to keep fit.
"All right." Snape moved over to the table and sat down in one of the chairs. "What are we eating tonight?"
He was not all that concerned about Lucius being late; such was the life of a Ministry official, he supposed, and he could manage being alone with Narcissa for a while. He wasn't as nervous as he used to be around women anymore, but he still wasn't a very good conversationalist.
