Ginny Weasley was finally on her own. Actually she'd been on her own without her family for about an hour now. She had told her mother that she could fend for herself. She wanted to find her house mates that didn't think she was a complete waste of space. She was not always greeted with enthusiasm from her own house mates. However most thought she was at least a Weasley worth talking to and she was proud of that. She was glad that the school year was only a couple days away. She'd go crazy if she had to deal with Ron for one more second. She liked that fact that he was in a completely different house. It made her happy to not run into him while they were at school. Of course there were the little family you must meet us things but even those she didn't care about and tended to skip out on.
Ginny made her way out of Knockturn Alley. She had had her hood up the entire time so now she brought it down. Her vibrant red hair seemed to glisten in the sun. It did scream out, 'Hey I'm a Weasley,' but she didn't much care. She wandered around Diagon with no real destination in mind. She had some things to get for school but she had gotten most of it before she wandered her way into Knockturn alley. There were rumors flying everywhere about things that no child witch should know. Rumors about the Dark Lord and his men. She had shrugged it off however. After all rumors for the moment were just rumors. She had plenty of school rumors to deal with. She smiled and stopped to talk to one of her friends before they both vanished to do the things they needed to do. She hoped this would prove to be an interesting year.
She walked into Madame Malkin's Robes for all Occasions. She went looking around. She couldn't really buy anything as it was hard enough to get new school books each year. As most people knew the Weasley family bought things at second hand stores. Ginny however they tried to get things new for her as she was the youngest and only girl of her family. She was admiring the dressing gowns when she ran into another student. Words uncharacteristic of a Slytherin came out of her mouth. "Sorry about that." She brushed herself off and went back to looking not expecting the other to say anything to her.

Ginny has this really bad tendency to not pay attention to people or where she was going for that matter. At times it annoyed the heck out of everyone and other times in the company of her Slytherin friends it was brushed off as everyone was in there way. Of course Ginny was not your typical Slytherin either. She could care less about the blood purity thing as she had been raised differently then the rest and her father loved muggle things. Ginny for the life of her didn't know why. Though she would admit that the muggles came up with interesting things. Especially books about wizards and witches. She wanted to laugh at some of them but then again muggles had no idea what the wizarding world really was like. She wondered sometimes if some of the authors that talked about it were wizards. After all some things were true in such books. Muggle fashion on the other hand was rather entertaining too.
She was broken out of her musing by the voice of the girl she had run into. "Nope not at all. Just not paying attention to where I was going. Sorry." It all honesty she didn't really care what was over by the girl at this moment. She had already stepped around her and was looking through the rack next to the girl. She could always go back to it it wasn't like it was that impartive and she had a bit more patience then most Slytherin brats. She'd heard her group being called brats by the other houses and she figured that was probably true. As the purebloods usually though they were all high and mighty if they were in Slytherin. Of course there were a few that didn't give a care like herself. She turned back to the girl at her side. "I'm Ginny by the way." That was all she was going to say for now. She might as well give a name for the other to be mad at. Plus it usually led to entertaining conversation with some people.
Ginny was bored and she could do with some conversation with older students. She was sure that the girl next to her was older than she was. She just seemed to have that air about her. On top of that the other seemed just a little annoyed and Ginny being curious wanted to find out what was making the other girl tick basically. Ginny waited for a answer as she moved a little farther away from the girl and looked at more of the dress robes. Why was it that she couldn't find anything that suited her tastes here. It was not like or and not like Madame Malkin to have things that just did not appeal to the young thirteen year old. Ginny was also wondering what in the world this year was going to bring with all the rumors running around not only the ministry but her friends and other students as well. She shrugged that off and continued her search. [/blockquote]

There really wasn't anything that was catching the young Slytherin's eyes. She was going to apparently have to shop elsewhere. She was okay with that and she wouldn't actually mind saving the money that she had with her. She had been given the choice to buy new things or to buy second hand. She knew buying second hand made you look well uneducated and like trash but it was cheaper and some of the things she found were extremely cool. She could always go into muggle London and do a little shopping there if she felt like it. She of course would probably save the money so she could get something on the train or have some to spare for trips to Hogsmeade. She was able to go there this year and she was intending on having fun doing so. She had lost track of exactly what she was looking at so she just sort of stopped looking through dress robes and was standing there probably looking a little dumb at the moment.
Ginny snapped her attention back to the girl that she had run into earlier. A smile crossing her face. At least she could have some good conversation even through she had not found anything to her liking in the dress robes. "Nice to meet you Madeleine..You are in Ravenclaw right?" She gave a half smile to the last bit of what she said. She knew most of the school because of her brothers. Of course they also knew her through her brothers. She really didn't mind that but sometimes she'd like people to know her as herself. "Yes I'm in Slytherin." She seemed to have answered everything that Madeleine had asked her."I assume that you are here looking for something that catches your eyes. I don't know why Madame Malkin doesn't have anything this year." She shook her head and looked away only for a second before looking bac at the other.
occ note: sorry for the shortness

Ginny giggled at the remark Madeleine said about the houses. It was true. The house did not define who you were as a person. You did really. The choices you made were what made you who you were not some stupid saying from a hat that sorted you based on some of those decisions you had made and some you had not made yet. Her mother had not been happy when she got sorted into Slytherin. As a matter of fact she had gotten a howler from her mother because of it. She had of coures let the howler explode before it said anything. It wasn't like she cared what her mother was going to say about it. Her father had actually congradulated her and told her to be careful not to get into too much trouble with her fellow housemates. She could tell he was concerned for her well being but knew that she would be able to hold her own and could go for help if she needed. After all she did have brother running around the school and friends as well. Still she was who she was regardless of being in Slytherin or not.
The other was just a displeased about the dress robes as she was. The other made a comment about the order being late. "I certainly hope so. It's not like her to only have rubbish in this section. Ginny remembered as a very small girl walking in a loving the dress robes and such. However apparently that was either her young eyes liking it or the better styles back then. Her elder was looking at a lime green dress robe that would not befit anyone known to man. She gave a rather disgusted look at it and nodded as the girl mentioned that she was only here for school robes. "I would have to agree with you. I was here because I had a little extra money but nothing in here worth the precious money I have." In all honesty it would be a waste to spend money on such horrid things. After all she could go into Knockturn and get something better. Maybe not in fashion but in usefulness in a sense. She mentally shook of her thoughts about such things intending on saving the money.
The last question out of Madeleine caught Ginny slightly off guard. No one had ever asked her if she was into fashion before. Maybe it was because the people she hung out with didn't really care about such things or maybe because it was implied that Ginny knew a thing or two about fashion. "I know what looks good on me and what does but I can't say that I'm always up with the times. I've got a way of making even hand me downs and second hand clothing work." She wasn't sure why she was admitting that but hey it was true. She could if she felt like it make anything look good regardless if it was name brand or not. [/blockquote]
