This is the list of major canons alive at the beginning of the seventh book. If a character is not on here, you can still of course play them; it's safe to say that there are far too many to list. Canons should stay the same age and keep their basic background, but if you wish to take a canon who is dead at this point and amend their story so they are not, that is okay.
