There is no point in denying the things has done. Regulus was raised to believe pureblood elitist ideas. He grew up wanting to be a Death Eater, was drawn to the Dark Arts, and got his wish; he has killed and tortured without a second glance. However, he had a change of heart. As a grown man, he has become a very different person. Regulus has seen the error of his ways. His pride, once over the top, was shattered in the process. Because of everything, he is still an indifferent and reserved person on first impression. However, on the inside he is very caring. He is loyal and brave, and has even tried to overcome the old prejudices. Selfless to the end. Reg is and was prepared to die fighting for what is right. The only thing is, he sees little value in his own life anymore other than the secret he carries. But now that he is back, he is desperate for redemption. It will take an effort for him to apologize, but when fighting breaks out he will give it his all. Regulus Black may be back from the dead, but it is a very changed man who walks in his shoes.

Regulus was born in the summer of 1961, the second child of Orion and Walburga Black. He was named after a star and deceased relatives as was the tradition. The Blacks were an ancient pureblood Slytherin family and proud of it. From an early age his parents drilled their narcissistic ideas into him, and unlike his brother, Regulus listened. Young and proud, he wanted to be better than everyone else. It was a good thing for them after all. Growing up he was the favored son. He always had a great respect for his parents and wanted to please them and be just like them when he was older.

Rejection and arguments weren't something he was willing to face and so he always stayed out of trouble. In their early years Reg and Sirius were like any brothers, but he couldn't understand Sirius's rebellious ways or why he would want to be different from their family when their family was so great. He admired his brother as is his tendency to admire those in high places, but it all began to get old. More reserved and drawn to power and the darker side of things, he came to see his brother as a bit of an ungrateful jerk although he never hated him. Being the perfect son for the two of them and therefore getting all the love and attention as well he was the only one sorry about the rift in the family.

Anyway, to his great pride Regulus became a Slytherin when it was his turn to go to Hogwarts. He kept to those in his own House and fit right in. It was around this time or maybe a little later that the rumors of the Dark Lord started circulating. He was fascinated by them and thought it was a great thing to establish wizard supremacy and come out of secrecy, as those were the only motives for the movement he knew of. He started collecting newspaper articles pertaining to the Dark Lord and it soon became his great ambition to join him and become a Death Eater when he finished with Hogwarts. Not to mention that his parents would be proud and think him a great hero for doing so, even if they didn't join themselves. In his fifth year he joined the Slytherin Quidditch team as a Seeker; a more temporary goal was to beat that James Potter who stole his brother.

When 1979 rolled around Regulus did indeed live up to his dream and join the Death Eaters. He was proud of it and gave it his all at first. However, none of this could last. When he saw exactly what the Dark Lord was prepared to do to gain power and the wizarding world fell into nightmarish chaos, doubts turned into the realization that he was in too deep and all of this was wrong. Unfortunately there was no way out. When the Dark Lord asked to use Kreacher, the family house elf Regulus had always been fond of, he had to say yes. The elf was meant to die but instead disapparated to Regulus's side, and had quite the story to tell when he did. From this and something Voldemort had let slip, Regulus figured out the truth about the horcruxes.

No longer caring what happened to him but ready to die correcting his mistakes, he set off to destroy Slytherin's locket with the house-elf in tow. They were successful in making it to the heart of the underground cavern, where Regulus drank the potion and swapped the horcrux for a locket he had brought with him, containing his own suicide note. He had been fully prepared, and supposed to die there; the Inferi were already dragging him under when, at the last second, Kreacher used his magic to get the both of them to safety.

Against his wishes, but to his relief, Regulus found himself back at Grimmauld Place. However, he could not stay. His work was done, and he no longer wished to live as a Death Eater. So he decided to continue with his plan and have died in the cave- or at least, make everyone think he was dead. To be safe, he put a Memory Charm on the house-elf, and then vanished without a trace. What he really did was stow away on a Muggle ship to America. After all, he had to go far out of everyone's reach, making sure never to see them again. Once there, Reg basically started over. He stayed low, living as a Muggle, slowly getting rid of the elitist views he had been raised with. To stay completely out of sight of any wizard at all was the only thing he could do.

Nearly fifteen years of isolation passed. Even when the Dark Lord was defeated, he did not go back. Home was not home any more. He had nearly pushed his roots out of his mind, when the Dark Mark burned once again. Lord Voldemort was back. At first he tried to ignore it. But as the news filled with distant disaster, Regulus's conscious took over. The only answer was that there were multiple Horcruxes, because as a last act of magic he had destroyed the locket. More than one. And he was the only person in the entire world, or so he thought, who knew the truth. It was time to reenter the old world and assist the Chosen One in his quest, to pass the knowledge on. If he died trying, than that would be just fine; he had meant to do that years ago. But now it has become responsibility.
